Assistant General Manager

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the GM in leading all departments within their assigned dispensary to ensure delivery of an exceptional customer experience while maintaining a positive team culture. This role is a crucial liaison between in-store staff and upper management. This position also assists in overseeing customer service, cash and inventory management, medical and security teams, and team member training and development.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

People Management Responsibilities

  • Leads by example in creating a positive atmosphere, encouraging a customer first philosophy, and promoting a global mindset

  • Ensures the consistent delivery of an exceptional customer experience via staff training and development and the enforcement of company policies, practices, and procedures

  • Provides on-going coaching and regular individualized feedback to all Team Members

  • Maintains records on staff performance (productivity, sales, attendance, etc.) and ensures plans for performance improvement are instituted in a timely manner where required

  • Supports the GM in interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, training, and managing dispensary staff

  • Helps train and develop staff in accordance with company policies, practices, and procedures

  • Holds all team members accountable for performing in a manner that is consistent with individual job descriptions, position goals/KPIs, and the company’s code of conduct

  • Utilizes rewards, recognition, and personal development tools to continuously encourage optimal levels of employee engagement and performance

  • Supports the GM by documenting HR matters relating to employee performance and discipline

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Sales and Operations Management Responsibilities

  • Ensures all staff are trained on dispensary SOPs and state compliance protocols

  • Ensures relevant legislative and procedural changes are communicated and trained to dispensary staff

  • Maintains knowledge on all aspects of the medical cannabis industry to ensure customers are benefitting from current and effective cannabis practices

  • Supports the GM is achieving individual and dispensary KPI’s including but not limited to sales, customer service, inventory levels, payroll, and overall profit metrics

  • Provides feedback to GM, marketing, and Inventory Coordinator regarding local product markets and inventory trends

  • Makes suggestions to GM on improvements to business processes and practices

Inventory Management Responsibilities

  • Supports accurate and efficient inventory tracking based on system metrics and results

  • Ensures SOP compliance personally and amongst staff to promote reporting consistency, mitigate loss, and achieve state compliance

  • Communicates need for adequate stock levels, proper product assortment, and consistent replenishment planning

  • Makes suggestions to GM and Inventory Coordinator for products, specials, and campaigns.

Cash Management Responsibilities

  • Ensures cash in store is regularly counted, cross-checked, and balanced

  • Ensures cash tracking procedures are followed to mitigate potential loss

  • Reports variances to GM and assists in the prompt investigating and resolution of cash related issues

  • Holds the dispensary team accountable for consistent and accurate cash handling and ensures that the team is following processes and procedures designated by the Financial Controller

Safety, Security, and Compliance Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety and security standards are consistently upheld

  • Partners with security team to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks to personnel and property

  • Ensures all team members act in accordance with all safety, security, and compliance protocols

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in high volume, fast-paced customer-facing team management

  • Two (2) years of experience working with cannabis or highly regulated retail preferred

  • Self-starter with proven motivational and leadership skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while maintaining focus on accuracy and attention to detail

Computers and Technology

  • Advanced MicroSoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with point of sale, inventory, and transaction tracking systems including Springbig, Leaflogix, Veriscan, Microsoft office, and Metrc, and others used to facilitate medical marijuana sales

Must be capable of lifting 25 pounds to stock product boxes. Position requires frequent reaching into cabinets and displays to show and review product. Ability to maintain a stationary sitting or standing position for up to eight hours in a day based on business needs and sales volume; and, ability to bend and retrieve products from lower shelves. This role also enters information into sales and tracking systems requiring hand dexterity and the ability visually verify correct product information.

Salary: $34,766.00 - $41,722.00 per year
